At times she seems to be writing about her
divorce.
``I
can understand why people would think it's about that,'' she said.
``But it's not really about a specific relationship; more about that
obsessive kind of love when you first meet someone, and you project
so much on that person that you don't know what you're doing. That's
gotten me into trouble in the past. So it's a personal song about
all my relationships.''
Bonham
will feature her new material in her live show. And yes, she still
sings ``Mother Mother,'' though it doesn't sound like it did in '93.
``People never realized that song was meant to be ironic,'' she
says. ``The screaming was meant as a joke. But that song helped me
get the Blue Man gig, and there are people who know my name because
of `Mother Mother.' So it's definitely helped more than it's hurt.''
Tracy Bonham plays tomorrow at the
Paradise Lounge, Boston. One free ticket comes with the purchase of
``Blink the Brightest'' at any Newbury Comics
store.
